Still Looking for Home Insurance

Im still not sure who to go for with home insurance,

The ones I have looked at most seem to be More Than and Yorkshire Building Society, bot of whom seem to offer fairly good rates, I still would like to hear from people who have had experience with various companies, and how willing thay are to part with money!

Continued Ramblings of an Office Worker

So so tired today, on the plus side though, THREE DAY WEEKEND, cant beat it!

Drinking planned for friday and saturday with relaxation for the remaining two days.

The stock market is currently on a downturn, dispite my fears for the mining and oi sector though im not particularly worried, with the hike in intrest rates over in chine and a bank holiday coming up I think its more a case of people not buying (Why gamble for the three day period, buy in afterwards attitude) and too many people selling, I predict futher rises in these sectors.

I tipped Global Marine Energy (GME) to a few mates, and they seem to ahve done well out of it so far. I wouldnt buy into it till next week, or at latest COP today, as I think shares will continue to fall until tuesday next week.

The sun is shining...

The weather is amazing today, so its definately the pub today,

To the doubter of the lottery scheme, dont knowck it till youve tried it, my income from that is mostly from the lottery, im not a reedy bloke and I think playing the lottery in a syndicate for free is a pretty good deal, the little extra I make from refferals isnt exactly enough to destroy someones bank balance.

I should have taken the day off today, its a little windy but the sun is shining down strong and the pubs have all opened their beer gardens, BRING ON SUMMMERRRRR.

Also, does anyone have any inside info on when they are going to release more leeds festival tickets, i want to get in this time!

The Man Code - You must obey!

The Man Code

1. Thou shall not rent the movie "Chocolat"

2. Under no circumstances may 2 men share an umbrella.

3. Any man who brings a camera to a bachelor party may be legally killed and eaten by his fellow partygoers.

4. When you are queried by a buddy's wife, girlfriend, mother, father, priest, shrink, dentist, accountant, or dog walker, you need not and should not provide any useful information whatsoever as to his whereabouts. You are permitted to deny his very existence.

5. Unless he murdered someone in your immediate family, you must bail a friend out of jail within 12 hours.

6. You may exaggerate any anecdote told in a bar by 50 percent without recrimination; beyond that, anyone within earshot is allowed to call BULLSHIT. (Exception: When trying to pick up a girl, the allowable exaggeration rate rises to 400 percent)

7. If you've known a guy for more than 24 hours, his sister is off-limits forever.

8. The minimum amount of time you have to wait for another guy who's running late is 5 minutes. For a girl, you are required to wait 10 minutes for every point of hotness she scores on the classic 1-10 babe scale.

9. Complaining about the brand of free beer in a buddies refrigerator is forbidden. You may gripe if the temperature is unsuitable.

10. No man is ever required to buy a birthday present for another man. In fact, even remembering a friends birthday is strictly optional and slightly gay.

11. Agreeing to distract the ugly friend of a hot babe that your buddy is trying to hook up with is your legal duty. Should you get carried away with your good deed and end up having sex with the beast, your pal is forbidden to speak of it, even at your bachelor party.

12. Before dating a buddy's "ex", you are required to ask his permission and he in return is required to grant it.

13. Women who claim they "love to watch sports" must be treated as spies until they demonstrate knowledge of the game and the ability to pick a buffalo wing clean.

14. If a man's zipper is down, that's his problem, you didn't see nothin'.

15. The universal compensation for buddies who help you move is beer.

16. A man must never own a cat or like his girlfriend's cat.

17. When stumbling upon other guys watching a sports event, you may always ask the score of the game in progress, but you may never ask who's playing.

18. When your girlfriend/wife expresses a desire to fix her whiney friend up with your pal, you may give her the go-ahead only if you'll be able to warn your buddy and give him time to prepare excuses about joining the priesthood.

19. It is permissible to consume a fruity chick drink only when you're sunning on a tropical beach... and it's delivered by a topless supermodel... and it's free.

20. Unless you're in prison, never fight naked.

21. A man in the company of a hot, suggestively dressed woman must remain sober enough to fight.

22. If a buddy is outnumbered, out manned, or too drunk to fight, you must jump into the fight. Exception: If within the last 24 hours his actions have caused you to think, "What this guy needs is a good ass-whoopin", then you may sit back and enjoy.

23. Phrases that may NOT be uttered to another man while weight lifting:
"Yeah, baby, push it!"
"C'mon, give me one more! Harder!"
"Another set and we can hit the showers."
"Nice ass, are you a Sagittarius?"

24. Never hesitate to reach for the last beer or the last slice of pizza, but not both. That's just plain mean.

25. If you compliment a guy on his six-pack, you better be referring to his beer.

26. Never join your girlfriend/wife in dissing a buddy, except when she's withholding sex pending your response.

27. Never talk to a man in the bathroom unless you're on equal footing: either both urinating or both waiting in line. In all other situations, a nod is all the conversation you need.

28. If a buddy is already singing along to a song in the car, you may not, unless you are gay.

Busted

This made me laugh damn hard

Home Insurance

Morning All,

I need home insurance for my new place, contents only!

I have been advised on Homelet and Nationwide so far, can anyone recommend an insurer?

Also are tehre any horror stories on who to avoid, dont want myself getting in with a company that hardly ever pays up!

Cheers

Anothe Dilbert Inspired Blog - George W Bush and Iraq

Scott Aams recently posted on his blog asking people to sum ip why america invaded Iraq, a surprising number still said WMD, even though its obvious that was al propoganda. The thing that really annoyed me was that a huge number of people just said Oil or Control of Oil.

To me this seems incredibly naive, while oil is valuable, so are $500,000 bombs. The war in Iraq cost the countries involved a hellova lot of money.

The reason for the war on Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran (I doubt saudi arabia due to there huge economic power)is the whole stability of the US Economy.

Maybe I should start a bit futher back.

The Dollar, as statated by the constitution, should be index linked to gold, $35 would get you an ounce of gold, of course with inflation this caused a bit of trouble when japan came with several billion dollars and asked for its gold, which America was obliged to pay it. Of course the link with gold was dropped pretty sharpish, but even though they called the dollar a fluid currency, with no backing, the dollar had to be supported by some kind of commodity

In the mid 1900's America signed a deal with a lot of eastern countries granting them Americas protection if in return they agreed only to sell Oil by the Dollar. This meant that whenever anybody wanted to buy oil they first had to buy the dollar, giving it a value dispite having no 'real' value.

What does this have to do with Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran?

In THAT ORDER they have declared that they want to trade Oil in Euros, this means that the main thing keeping the dollar stable will begin to be removed, and if one country does it, the value of the dollar will drop, this will cause other countries to 'panic convert' since they will not want to sell oil at bargain prices!

The end result?

The dollar will be worth a lot less, causing huge strife for many companies, if it goes ahead i could see there being an economic recession in america. Of course it will not be the end, America is still a large producer of many products, and most importantly food, however if the current trend continues America will take a hit, meaning cheaper food for the rest of the world i guess! =D

the way i see it is if you have a lot of money in the dollar, hedge your bets with gold & the Euro.

(Usual disclaimer applies this is for information only & i cannot be held responsible for any profit OR loss)

Lottery

I have joined a new lottery scheme that i think will work to everyones favour,
Here
They charge £5 a week to enter both uk draws. I admit that to start with i was sceptical about this, but after the first two weeks i had gained £57. Of course this wont happen every week, but it gets better!

If you refer someone you will get 20% of their payment, so if you refer 5 people yu play for free!

Not only that - But for each of the people they refer you get 5% and 5% of the people they reffer down to seven layers, and after that, if you do well enough you can have infinate layers from 1 -2%, this could generate a huge income!

Im already playing for free, so are most of my family and some of my friends, and pretty soon im expecting a cheque for my referal bonuses!

If that isnt enough, play grab a grand free, if your 5 of your numbers match the lottery draw you instantly win £1000 and ontop of that if anyone you referred wins you get £1000 too!

Dont forget though, on top of the cheque you still stand the chance to win huge sums in your syndicate, with chances up to 37,000% more likely!

Heres the referal scheme, as you can see the amounts are incredibly generous!

Contacting Lennon

John Lennons EVP speach was aired last night on pay per view. Though I havnt seen it myself I find this phenomenon hard to believe.

Producer Paul Sharrat claimed that he was skeptical at first, but said that hearing the voices made hima believer. Pauls last show which attemted to channel the spirit of Princess diana gossed close to $8 million, so theres obviously no financial incentive there!

The producers called in an EVP specialist by the name of Sandra Belanger to examine the voice and she proclaims it Lennon's. Of course she also has no financial gain to be made from apparent proof that EVP actually exists.

The only near to truth quote I can see was by Ono's long-time friend and spokesman Elliot Mintz who has called the entire exercise "tacky, exploitative and far removed" from Lennon's way of life. "A pay-per-view seance was never his style,"
Personally since the producers never asked permission to contact John I think a massive lawsuit is in order, what would the public opinion be if they tried to contact George Best, or for the Yanks, George Washington. why dont they do something useful, like trying to contact George Bush, another nigh on impossible task, seeee soommeeee seennsseeeee...

Jessusss monday nights seem to drag, im working on a new site, all will be revealed later, im also completely reworking The Bargain Bin (My shop) Also in the works im going to move my Reviews site The Desktop Shop onto my Servage server, as i can say without a doubt that they have been the best web host for speed and features I have ever used, and with 75gb disk space (77.5gb if you join through me!) 600gb bandwidth 1000 mysql databases, a whole load of programs built in and all for less than £5.25 a month I dont see myself changing anytime soon!

Join up with Servage Here

Flogging a dead horse

This made me laugh, I saw it posted on the dilbert blog and is a pretty good modernisation of the old flogging the dead horse saying.

The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from one generation to the next, says that when you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. But in modern business (and education and government) heavy investment or other considerations may encourage other strategies:

* Buying a stronger whip.
* Changing riders.
* Threatening the horse with termination.
* Appointing a committee to study the horse.
* Visiting other sites to see how they ride dead horses.
* Lowering the standards to include dead horses.
* Reclassifying the dead horse as "living-impaired."
* Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.
* Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
* Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.
* Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
* Declaring that the dead horse requires less overhead and therefore contributes more to the bottom line.
* Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.
* Promoting the dead horse to management

Look back on the last few weeks

Well the blogs been going for a few weeks now, and although its still young its filling up fast, Ramblings of an Office Worker first came to mind when I was sat bored at work, it took all of 3 minutes to set up, then i got bored again, nulucky.

What I want to know is
A) Have you been here a few times (Do I have any repeat visitors?)
B) Do you find the info on here useful?
C) Do you find my blog entertaining?
D) Will you end up surfing porn instead fo reading this next time?

American Revolution 2

Ok,

As most people will know, most revolutions start when two radically different grous of people in a country disagree, in this instance I will base this on the french revolution, Rich and Poor, Nobility and the Plebians.

I use the french as an example because it was rich and poor, very much like america today. the difference being that this time we have credit. The American populice relies heavily on this magical stuff, unfortunately it maens many people dont realise how poor they have become. The government tries doing all kindsa stuff to make it seem like people are flurishing, the fact remains though that the governmetn is pumping out more and more dollars, and people are getting more and more in debt.

Analysts say that a mortage does not count as a debt, they say the value of the house should be offset, and this is tru toa point, however if the market crashes, who will buy your house? and when you cant pay your mortgage for that month, the debt collecters will have that oh so precious asset that kept your debt level down.

The reason I call this a revoluion is simple, when the american dollar collapses there will be a major poor-rich disparity, and americans always have the beligerant i know im right streak, which is a perfect mix for an all out clash.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think it will be quite as bad, armies and guillotenes will probably not feature hugely, but i would predict outbreaks of violence, increase in crmie etc as people have no other way to survive. and some major democratic upheaval as the economic structure of America is rebuilt.

How to become a millionaire

I am taking up one of my mates money saving techniques, this wasnt really practical when I lived in a village but now im in town I think i might give it a go.

What he would do is basically take any money he had left at the end of each day, notes and all, and put it into a jar, this was usually about 12 - 13 pounds, he would then put this into a savings account at the end of each month, usually with an extra hunred pounds on top. He is now making an extra months wage a year from his savings, I have now officially classed him as 'a bastard' but the technique is sound, I may have to give it a go, though im a little bit too skint to do it just at the moment!

Does anyone else have any other tips for saving money that have worked well over the years?

20 April 2006

Oh. My. God.

This morning I am suffering from what seems to bea case of 'hangover at work'

This is a gaurentee that the morning will take forever, this lunchtime I plan on getting a half hour power nap to bring me to my senses, after only getting a coupla hours sleep last night.

On that subject, last night was pretty fucking awsome. i got pretty wasted, and have gained a random number, not sure who off!

19 April 2006

Religion - is the Qu'ran Evil?

I have been following the massive debate on the Dilbert Blog concerning religion.

One of the main arguing points seems to be the largely excessive use of violence in some parts of the texts (Even though this contradicts peaceful parts of the Qu'ran)

Personally I dont think religion is the cause of violence, thats just down to the wankers, which you get in any society. Neither do I think the scriptures themselves are evil, the bible tells us to goto war against none christians, but you dont see christians cutting off heads. the plain fact of the matter is that religious extremism doesnt work in todays society, indeed the bible has had much of its extreme chapters removed.

In most cases people have the common sense to stick to the peaceful parts of religion, and ideologism, but you must remember that most people who want to use ideologism to change the world tend to use the point of a gun to do so (Hitler etc). The difference being Hitler wanted the perfect race, tall blonde blue eyed etc, where as religious extremists want their religion to be predomonant.

As a non belever in religion I can see how most religions follow a pattern of entice and control, this was used by most sections of society throughout history, entice people with peace, a better way of life and heaven, then once the people believe, and you have your own personal army, convert through force not peace, kill disbelievers and invade their countries. The invading part being christianity, muslim seems to be more about defending your country and religion by force. IN the same vein though the crusades were based on smimilar rules to current terrorists. They took passages made to defend faith and convert and used them to rape and pillage (similar to Mohammed, who raped, plundered and allowed is troops to break the law of Islam)

In all religions the people who come to prominence were leaders, not prophets. they did not do for religion, but personal gain. Jesus may have done a lot, but most of it gave him personal glory, and lets face it, he didnt have much choice in wether to die for his sins or not, the books describing how he 'chose' to die were written by his disciples, who probably needed a bit of protection after the Jews had just strung up their leader. After all it wouldnt have looked good for their religion if the son of god was killed by a handful of gaurds, wouldnt god have intervened?

I think in this day and age there would be more of a consensus that religion was a form of control, and belief was the tool, indeed many christians now do not 'believe in god' but rather believe in the peaceful teachings, which they think, in some cases correctly, that is bringing a better way of life for humanity, maybe in another century this will become accepted and we can stop spending so much of our tax money on frigging churches!

I'ld be intrested to know peoples views on religion (Not the Qu'ran) as i think its a fasinating topic, also any people who truely believe in a diety, as i dont think I could ever do it myself!

Lunchtime blues

The weather is pretty bad at the moment, its a shame because its been really nice recently, damn april showers.

Today seems to be dragging, you know when you feel like youve done a full days work but only reached lunchtime?

My website income still isnt the best,, but it seems to be improving generally! I am building up my shop, this will not sell things direct but search for teh cheapest price available, kinda like pricegrabber or froogle, so i hope you will visit it!

At the moment there is a basic search tool, give it a go here!

Im having trouble with google ads not showing up on a few of my sites, imnot 100% sure why this is, as if i re upload the files individually they seem to work, but since there are about 16000 its not something I particularly fancy doing!.

My PSP site seems to be on track, getting a few visitor, I will have to update the cheats section though as it only covers a few games at the moment!

pisssuuupppp

Will be a big drinking session tonight around York, and in accordance with the irrovocable law of sod, its pissing it down. We will be heading off to a gig at Judges first before heading into town to get drunk, it should be a good night though!

Im tempted to sell my shares in BG group, though it may go higher I've took a hefty profit already from this, and its wise to not get too greedy.

BG.L
p770.00 - current price
6.00 - Change today
£3,611.30 - Total Value
£987.48 - Profit since January (Initially bought these shares in at approx £1000)

As you can see, 300% in the last couple of years is not too bad, I think the Iran situation is mostly bluster, so I think that shares will still rise in the short term until the Iran situation diffuses, then its just a ticking time bomb!

On that note personally I applaud the Iranians for trying to instigate nuclear power, they have little scope for coal or gas power, and oil is making too much profit to be used in powerplants, I would say that with their budget currently a Nuclear facility would be a recommended choice.

I may have said this before but the only reason Bush is intrsted in Iran is because it wishes to sell Oil in euros, this would probably bring down the US economy as Oil is all that supports the dollar!

18 April 2006

Shares

My shares have been performing well over the last week, im pretty glad my portfolio was balanced enough to survive the downwards trend ni the market last week (especially since I lacked any alcohol or tobacco shares)

It seems that standard life are still on track to give me a windfall. Since i've been with them over two years, and I have been advised I could expect upto £2000, judging on life experience though I expect £1000, but will probably get £500, then get taxed down to £250.

In was absolutely knackered this morning, I think ive slept too much over the weekend, on sunday i dropped off at about 6pm, and woke up at 9am the next day. I think its been one of those weekends where ive just had so much sleep its left me constantly tired, so I think it may be wise to avoid doing that in future.

Our bull Bearings share trading league is going well, im on top =D ive gained about 3% and holding in the last week, though ive played defensively over the last week because of the weak state of the market.

There is a jewellers in York thats doing 50% discount on most of its wares, i got myself a kenetic watch (by pulsar) for £50, no more death of watch batteries for me! =D

Never buy stock in BT, judging by my dealings with them about 50% of their middle - lower management are not required, there was actually a report (Which BT ignored) which said similar to that. I cannot see how the company will continue to operate efficiently like that, especially since a lot of the middle management arnt in that position because of their skills, but because they have worked there for their entire life. hence why some of the account managers have no financial expertise, but are our account managers because they sat at a bt helpdesk for ten years without being able to get a better job. Shoot me now.

17 April 2006

Uhoh

Hmmm, Well ive had two comments, not quite as many as i hoped for, so in the true spirit i'll say 18 people were too lazy and my guess at the amount of visitiors was correct :D

Hits wise I seem to be getting 20 a day anyway!

I have been reading through all my dilbert books, absolutely love it, just a quick plug for Dilbert and the Dilbert Blog

msn wont connect so im temporarily out of touch with everyone, normally ild be bothered but im in a real lazy ass mood today so im not too fussed, must be because its a bank holiday!#

Work tomorrow, same old, mite bob down to the snooker club later though, get a few games in!

16 April 2006

Money Making Scheme

I would be intrested to know how many people are actually visiting this blog, my estimate is between 10 - 20 per day, i would be usefull to have an accurate figure though! Can you leave a comment if you have read this far?

Too Much Wine

eurgh...

I feel so awful this moring, I think we got through four bottles of wine last night, leaving me with a very sore head.

15 April 2006

Stood up.

Looks like I got stood up, not such a happy easter. Shame, kinda liked this girl.

Ahh well, gonna have to figure out how to spread my wings around this fair city, will probably have to wait till after payday though!

14 April 2006

End of singleton?

Ive had a good two months of being single, but I think its about time I hooked up with someone again, I feel like being in a relationship. I do kinda miss this lass called Emma, was with her for nearly 6 months, things went downhill though, but shes one of the few women I could completely trust. Ahh well, I have just moved into a new city, so I could do with meeting some new people, we will be having a massive housewarming soon, and I may do a bit of a bar crawl, see what if I can meet anyone who would suit as a gf, dont get me wrong, im not 'looking' for love, but some women I can get on with, where as others bore me.

In other news, family visit kinda dragged, think ive got everything sorted now though!

Bumped into a coupla ladies who I havnt seen since highscool, that was kinda fun, they have turned pretty mental to be honest!

Oh My God

Get a holiday, 4 days off work, no worries, only one thing could ruin it, yes, thats right, dozy git i am. I forgot to turn my alarm off, at 7:30 this morning i was woken, and with an unlucky streak like that I may be in trouble!

In shares news, I get the feeling it may soon be time to pull out of the stock market, things are looking pretty unstable. Ive had a good run though, most recently with delta, who i gained some nice profits from.

13 April 2006

working too late on my blogs

Well its just gone midnight and im still working on my blogs - so so tired

If your male check out http://webcamwonders.blogspot.com/

Its my new blog and well worth a visit, no nudity im afraid =p

I also have my psp site up and running, got a few cheats etc up for those interested, also a shop with some great discounts here

Going to visit my family tomorrow, easter time so it has to be done (So i can get chocolate) =D
I know this is wrong but I know for a fact il buy at least another three easter eggs after easter just for the cheap chocolate, its well known that easter egg and advent calender chocolates are by far the nicest.

Testing 123

I am just trying out the 'blogging by email' feature, seen as though im on the move quite a lot it may give me something to do when im during a temporary patch of nothingness.

In other news - Software stickynotes, there are useful ones out there, but it doesn't look like im busy unless i have about 50 of the things scattered on my desk. Besides they arnt much good on reminders on your screen, they get pushed to the back, whereas if I turn my head more than an inch from my screen currently I get reminded by the lil notes I have scattered around!

Miscellaneous Spending

I have just realised how much I have un-neccessarily spent this month, it can be summed up in the phrase that involves the word 'creek' 'paddle' and 'without'
I think my only hope will be to get a second job, or ebay off a load of my old clothes, electronics, gadgets and me.

Either way I wont be going out much over the next few weeks, and I have to avoid all shops, women (Damn expensive things) and, though in york this is nigh on impossible, big issue sellers.

Quick fact for you, the average big issue seller earns more than me, and most clerical works *C*NTS*

Im thinking of starting a 'pay my way to leeds fest' donation counter, unfortunately I doubt the 10 - 20 daily visitors to my blog will end up contributing the £400 it will probably cost me for the weekend ($800 for the yanks) However whatever the cost Leeds festival is something that must be done, so here I come =D

Worst Thing That Can Happen In a Morning

Ok, the worst has happened.

Having just moved into a new place I have constrained my budget, this included removing my morning sausage and hash brown buttie from my diet, not easy but it wasnt an essential part of my life. Now the guy sat next to me has just brought in a sausage and egg, omg the smell of grease *Drools*.

So yeah, I think the rest of this morning is going to go mighty slow.

In other news, I forgot to mention it in my last post, but last night at the snooker club I managed to get myelf soundly thrashed, winning only two games =( I would still Recommend Castle Snooker as a good venue though!

My plan to become a millionaire is starting to bear fruit, yesterday I earnd $0.07! :D thats about 4.5p , but i et taxed 20% on that, so i earnt 3.6p yesterday *Does a groovy dance* today with any luck i'll turn that into 4.6p.... AFTER TAX!!

Ok, its nothing impressive, but you always have to start somewhere right? I recon if i start another blog I could double my money, but im not entirely sure what I could write about...

Ideas anyone?

Late for work.

Managed to be 15 minutes late for work today, fortunately the people I work with are all pretty sound characters. (In otherwords no masssive boss horror stories in this company, at least not boss's that I have direct contact with).

I joined Castle Snooker Club in Yyork last night, its a pretty nice place, Big TV's, staff are friendly, pints arnt too badly priced. It could do with a few more snooker tables, since I ended up playing pool last night, but theres not a huge amount you can do about that!

I will be heading home for Good Friday, picking up the stuff I have left behind and picking up any chocolate that happens to have been left laying around for me =D

12 April 2006

Simple Mistakes

I forgot how deep women look into the simplest things. I made two things that made women think worse of me this lunchtime. Firstly in boots i stopped to buy some shampoo, this lass was beside me and was obviously thinking, hes stood next to head and shoulders therefore he must be buying some, therefore he must have dandruff, therefore ewwww.

Secondly I bought some boxers, none branded, just for when im lazing around the house. When i went to buy them the woman was obviously thinking, plain boxers what a tight arse.

Personally im surprised that men who buy plain boxers are thought less of than a guy who probably bought some calvins off a grubby market store, I know ive got some of mine there before, classed as 'pulling pants' as women seem to expect them.

Nokia N91

When the Nokia N91 was first announces I was astounded, the specs, including its 4 GB hard drive all were hugely impressive. Unfortunately due to many delays in the release of this phone it has been overtaken by many other makes of phone.

I myself have a Sony Erricson K750i, which matches the Nokia N91 (If you buy a 4Gig Sony Duo pro Memory Card) in most ways appart from the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The headphone Jack is a usefull feature, but it isnt realy worth an extra £400. Of course the Nokia N91 also has a well made OS (Though we havn't had much chance to see it, and the BETA versions were emant to be fairly slow) which supports many media formats and is meant to be fairly customisable, using one of the latest symbian OS's.

I think considering the advances in technology the n91 is simply too late, however if Nokia get their ass's in gear and release the Nokia N92 (A phone with TV inbuilt) It may be a huge success, but they will have to get their prices down again.

I think my next phone purchase will have to be the Motorola SLVR, looks so damn good!

I wil be cutting down on looking at phones based on storage and MP3 apability since I simply never use it, I have found myself listening to a lot of Digital radio recently, as now they have many more, less generic channels I can usually find something that I want to listen to without much trouble, a phone with inbuilt Radio (not one of those shoddy needs phone brand headphones to use things) and Digital Radio would be a feature ild look for in a phone, due to battery consumption ofa DAB though I cant see it being implemented in phones for the near future.

11 April 2006

Leeds Fest

Ok, im having real trouble finding a decent priced Leeds fest ticket, I didnt think it would be that much to ask for!

Im going to be a millionaire mwoahahahahahaha

About wraps it up for this afternoon.

Dilbert

I have been a reader of the Dilbert blog (http://www.thedilbertblog.typepad.com) ever since it first came out. Scott Adams brings up some fairly random, but interesting, topics.

His most recent query into the universe has been about the question of wether we have free will. I think the answer is an astounding no myself, but what caught my attention was how many different peoples view of free will could be so completely different, could people please comment their view of what Free Will actually is?

The dictionairies tend to phrase it as choice made without any previous or external influence.

Personally i tend towards it being forced to choose something you wouldnt want to, of forced not to do something that you would like to do. I think previous actions could change your decision, but i dont think they effect free will.

A simple example would be a candle, first time you see one it looks pretty, you want to touch it, but you soon learn not to, you freely decide not to do it, in teh same way when your at school you also freely decide to put your hand quickly through the bunson burners flame, only if the teacher stopped the student putting his hand through the flame would the student lose his free will.

So what would you class free will as?

Google Ads

You may, or most probably may not have noticed that there ae now some adverts on my site, feel free to click these if they intrest you! The make money from your blog thing is exactly what im trying, though I doubt it will work.

I watched the office last night, work of pure genius, then I watched ghost busters, which is not only genius, it has Sigourney Weaver in an off the shoulder top, Rawr.

So yeah it got me thinking, nowdays when actors play their roles they tend to be fairly similar, realistic to the norm characters, but not really like any of the characters you tend to get n real life. For Example

  • The Secretry, never seen a drier sense of humour
  • The Short Geeky Guy - Fantastic
  • The Boffin Ghost Buster
  • The Normal Ghost Buster
  • The Lovestruck Ghostbuster
  • The Black Ghostbuster (Would of done the 'not another teen movie' style 'Man, that shit is WHACK' if the censors had allowed it into a pg movie)
  • The Stuck Up Musician
  • Slimer (What a guy)
  • The Sleazy EPA

Just to name a few, the characters all seem to stand out obviously, however they dont seem overplayed. I think that when this was wrote some genius was at work to make all this fit together so well.

So yeah, anyway *Ahem* im currently in a fantasy share trading league (and im winning) on http://www.bullbearings.co.uk feel free to join me, be warned though I will kick your ass.

My mate has decided that communism is the best form of government, ild agree with him if it wasnt for the overriding factor of human nature, bit of a gyp but there ya have it.

How to get a payrise

I have been working in the business world now, and have discovered that the following seems to be a widely practiced, and fairly efficient way of getting a payrise.

First, whatever job you do, change the process so you are the only person who fully understands it, also make sure the system fails completely if anyone else gets it wrong.

Secondly, Make sure any documentation is poorly written and hard to follow.

Thirdly, Leave the company for a higher paying job, doesnt matter if you dont like it.

Lastly, when your old company comes abck to you begging you to return, say you like your job at the moment and it pays much better, The rest? Relies on your negotiating skills.

*Disclaimer: I will not be held responisible in any way shape or form if people follow this and it doesnt work. *

New House

The house move is nearly done, im living it up in the centre of york, and its going well so far!

I spent my first night in the house last night, and i didnt manage to get a lot of sleep. The house, being old, is a little bit slanted, and unfortunately that leaves me with the feeling im gonna roll out of bed if I drop off, not good!

Ahhh well, my housemates seem pretty sound and the house is in a good location, should be good!

Im lacking the internet at home currently so updates may be few and far between

Will get back soon!
